The Garden Gate Shop – Craft Paper Bags

The Garden Gate Shop - Craft Paper Bags (MOBOT)

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project was the first series of redesigns for the Garden Gate Shop; the Missouri Botanical Garden’s onsite gift shop. For years they had been using bags that were 100% post consumer recycled paper to further their message of conservation, unfortunately the bags themselves had no messaging to this effect. Each bag has one side flap dedicated to contact information and the other to a message of recycling and reducing waste. The main faces have beautiful royalty free engravings of flowers with iconic meanings to the Garden. An orchid spike representing their world class rare botany collection and international research investments, a water lily representing their storied history and past attractions, and an iris representing their current attractions and educational programs.

I believe they update the art on the bags periodically now to promote new efforts, locations and programs. Below are examples of each bag created for this project. I believe I was the first to need, and thus had to create, a single process version of the Garden Gate Shop Logo – as all previous materials had been requested in color for signage, cards, or shirts.
